The Civil War

I am a HUGE Civil War buff. My guest room is themed and I have been to Gettysburg on multiple occasions. I have a friend who shares this passion as I covered here. I finally found some time to do a new one on the Union side. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain!

He was an American college professor from the State of Maine, who volunteered during the American Civil War to join the Union Army. He became a highly respected and decorated Union officer, reaching the rank of brigadier general (and brevet major general). He is most well known for his gallantry at the Battle of Gettysburg, which earned him the Medal of Honor.

Jeff Daniels portrayed him in the 1993 movie of Gettysburg and that is the likeness I chose to capture. You can see it available here.

New project and getting back to my roots

I am going back to my roots. As you might know, my work first started back in the late 80’s using wood as a medium, in many instances making three dimensional paintings using a router and other carving tools to give depth to my work.

I have recently sold some of my original pieces, the 3-D album covers I had in the made in the 80’s and 90’s. That alone was amazing, to see fans out there who crave rock art! It also triggered a desire to go back to where I started. Working with wood as a medium to create rock and roll art.

If you have followed me before, you’ve probably seen pictures of where I paint with my easel, paints and other tools. That is usually in my home, in a room I have dedicated to my work. But I also have a space outside that has traditionally been used for my wood working tools. With new woodworking router tools in hand, I am setting to work on my first wood work! What that is, I won’t say. You’ll have to stick around and find out!

AWAKEN

My last completed work of 2016! I present Christopher Squire from the band YES.

Chris Squire is well known for his use of the Wal Triple-Neck Bass Guitar in which he played during the song ‘Awaken’. On canvas I have captured him live performing ‘Awaken’ with the Wal Triple-Neck Bass Guitar.

Feedback from a fan!

It is very cool to have fans of my work out there and it is a privilege to see how my work is displayed and enjoyed. I received some pictures from one such fan. As you can see, a couple of wood and canvas pieces!

In there you can see Emerson, Lake & Palmer – Brain Salad Surgery, YESSONGS – Yes, When Giants Walked the Earth – Led Zeppelin and Joe Bbonamassa!

What do you think!?

What’s on the Back of Your Business Card?

My previous employer wanted to do a piece on what motivates us outside of the office. What are our hobbies and interests? It is a way to get to know the employees through the business newsletter. They put together a nice article about me I wanted to share.

The day after Osprey’s Dominion Vineyard

Yesterday I participated in my second show hosted by LI Art Show.! Good day! The weather was great, albeit a bit windy. With my stand ready, I made a sale early in the day.

My first wooden piece! Pink Floyd’s Division Bell is now in someones home on Long Island! Amazing! I hope the new owner enjoys it as much as I did.

I will make a new one, better than the first. I was younger in my craft at the time I painted this. I’d like to think I’ve progressed in my work and can produce something amazing.

Take a look at some shots of my stand at the Vineyard. Thank you to those who stopped by! I look forward to my next show.
